ASM skimmer mods. as some of you know i have a thing with modding my skimmer. i just like to do it. so far i have the mesh mod with enkamat pf4 flatback, enlarged venturi, gatevalve mod, as soon as i find a better pump i will be recirculating it with the stock pump as the feed pump. i just found another mod that we may all be able to use. making a DIY bubble diffuser plate from the white sewing grid mesh stuff. just trim it to fit your chamber snugly and voila cheap and easy. i havent done it yet because its 7am and im not mota-vated yet. but i will be in a few hours. i'll post my impressions later but it sounds like a solid idea.

I want my skimmer (I believe that it is a G3) moded. So, when you get motivated, come on over and work on mine, too. If you won't do that, will you post links to some good mod instructions? Thanks!

well another idea in the can. it was too fine of a mesh and wouldnt stay put with the pressure. i tried to make as bubble chamber from a bucket that fit loosely in the main chamber. nope that didnt do it either. if someone was inclined to spend some cash on a new pump and a real bubble plate it may work but not this incarnation.

Thanks Josh,
Keep up the DIY trials - success as well as failure and sharing them here. You never know what can springboard ideas to others who might create the next widget. For that is really the form of creativity nowadays - springboard. There is so much advancement in so many directions of technology that sometimes something that does a simple task in one industry with a simple mod could do wonders for something entirely different.
That being said - it's a great time to be alive. Now until we get rid of this POS administration I find parts of my life being pretty dismal. :(

Do you still have some of the Enkamat Josh? I tried to order some through their site but to no avail.

yup. i have some cool corrugated stuff that works well and i think i have a couple pieces of pf4 too. that reminds me, its time to check the mesh and see how its doing. this skimmer is kicking ass lately, better than normal and im scared.

What's the corrugated stuff? If it's available locally I can pick some up since I'll need some to redo from time to time. I'm using a scrubber pad right now and it's better than stock but not as good as the PF4...
That's awesome that you've got it dialed in so well.

its from colbond (the enkamat people)similar material to pf4 but dense and wavy, like a potato chip , i got it with a sample pack.
the scrubber pad works just as well IMO it just wears out faster.

Ya my scrubber pad is putting out too large of bubbles. I need to get some enkamat as well

heres a quick search from ebay .
7.00 for a 6x6 piece is about the average there.
i wonder if it would be at builders supply, payless lumber, or pacific supply. it's function is to let siding breathe. maybe meeks would be a better bet. i dunno.
fast forward 10 minutes....
meeks and pac supply are closed. WTF no one builds on sunday? i'll try again later in the week.
