Cooling fans I'm putting in an order for 4 of these cooling fans http://www.jab-tech.com/YATE-LOON-120mm-Case-Fan-D12SM-12-Medium-Speed-pr-3770.html
The Yate Loon's are widely regarded as some of the best fans in the industry and at a great price you can't beat it. If anyone wants to piggyback onto this order I am placing it sunday evening. I am already buying 8 of these guys (4 for me 4 for Rick) let me know if anyone want's any.. Cost on shipping looks to be about $1 a piece at the current level and I can't see it getting much higher. I will actually be hooking these up through a speed controller I ordered as well and will be able to pinpoint the level of speed I want out of them. They have different sizes take a look and see if there's anything you need. It should hopefully come in by the friday meeting and if not I can drop them off anywhere in Chico. I checked the reseller ratings on this site as well and it's a really solid rating so nothing to worry about there.

No problem... I had been on the search for a good quality fan at a good price and did a google for these fans... Great quality fans at a great price... They've got a lot of cool products as well.

Got the fans yesterday... Fired one up and they're dead silent and move a pretty substantial amount of air... The company was a pleasure to deal with as well.... All around great experience :2thumbs

Boy were these guys helpful!! I got home today and set up two of them blowing on the sump... Brought the temp down from around 83.5 to 81... Perfectly silent and blow a good amount of air too!

Just beware with that kind of evaporative cooling effect your evaporation water loss is going to be that much higher. Plan accoringinly for extra makeup water. Very cool that they're silent and work that well.
120mm fans are probably the best out there for moving air and being the most quiet. Congrats on finding a great product.

I run an auto top off so that shouldn't be a problem :-) I can't say much on their longevity but as for now no issues here!

on the subject of cheap fans...wally world has some 4" chrome fans for 5 bucks. why chrome you ask..because it goes faster and looks cool. chrome makes anything go fast and look cool.
but anyways, the bent metal foot is the cool thing about these fans, it acts like a hook and can be attached to something easily or just hanging on the side of the sump (as long as it doesn't get wet when the power goes out)

nah, we're talking about cooling fans... that's totally a legit post... I'm gonna have to check those out next time I go there.

Picked up one of those totally awesome chromies... If I don't like it I'll melt off the chrome and put it on my rims yo!
No really they move a decent amount of air. about as much as one of my fans I added... for the money though not bad at all!

I finally put my nominal ghetto $7 walmart-type clip-on fan that usually goes on my open canopy when I get home in the summer on a controller and mounted haphazardly to the back. Needless to say over the hot arse weekend - I checked my temperature recordings and no chiller operations but the fan cycled on and off (81.5 to 81.0) several times. I lost about 3 gallons over the weekend however. But I saved $2 in electrical costs over normal hot-time weekend chiller operations
