for some reason that I cant figure out.. I have tried plate corals moniporas 3 different times and each time they bleach and die I dont know what I am doing wrong..
I keep my tank at a steady 450 cal, 15 nitrate, alk is at 8 was down at 6 more than a month and a half ago... but I got 2 of my plates after I balnced it. could I not have enough flow I have them at top of tank good light i dont think its a placement issue tho... please help me firgure this out...

Sorry Paul,
I don't know about the other two but the same thing happened to mine. It was exactly like the one I broke off for you, still orange and alive but was being shadowed by the other parts growth. So I don't know if it was the rapid and drastic change of light or what. But certainly under PCs I have a hard time believing that. The one thing I know that also may have contributed to mine not surviving is 1) my failure to actually glue it down to something and 2) an overly agressive Gold Banded Maroon Clown. I'm considering replacing him with a more docile speices of clown. As this is the second one I've had that turned agressive to anything around (read one foot) an anemone she claimed was hers. Since I now have two, they split in Sept, that means if it isn't glued down she knocks off half of the things in my tank.

Maroons are nasty little buggers. Well, not so little when they get big.

How much flow are they getting? The SPS that I've had bleach have been from major changes in lighting (i.e. from the store to my tank). Are they bleaching from the edges and moving towards the middle, or just all over?

the first on i got bleached from the edges out the second started from a small bleach line in the middle.. and the one chris gave me bleached from the base to the edges... the one chris gave me was in almost the same placement with almost the same lighting.. I dont know whats goin on here..

Are they bleaching or is it RTN/STN? Bleaching the coral is still alive the other 2 are death. What is your PH? Type of lighting?
Also Montipora is a SPS not LPS ;)

LOL I could swear I posted under SPS
I pretty sure they are dead.. well 2 of them for sure and the other ones has a corner of color left. CMF lighting 2 10,000k and 1 actinic

CMF?? I assume you mean PC's? What what, what size tank? What about PH swings??
