Nice pictures!! And nice tank too! those biocubes are awesome!
Are you having any heat issues with the lid? I've heard some people do with them.

Dennis,
Great tank and nice cat. Your cat seems to like to pose for the camera too. LOL.

Thanks for the kind words. :D
I am having a minor heat issue, but I'm not sure how much of that is due to the base design. I've modded it out a bit, adding an internal powered skimmer, and a hang-on-back refugium.
The fuge needs additional and more creative plumbing so it can overflow into the main tank -- it has a powerhead that draws from the main tank, but the return drops into the internal sump right now. The built-in pump couldn't compensate for what was being driven into the sump, and the front tank water level dropped a half inch. So for now I've added an additional return pump to compensate for the fuge flow (return from that one is the tube coming in behind the rock in the full-tank shots).
The fuge is normally on an opposite light cycle from the tank (just turned on for photos), and I like to think its open top helps with evaporative cooling. That probably doesn't compensate for the three additional pumps I've added to the system tho (skimmer, fuge, additional return).
Doesn't look like heat will be a problem so far tho; I've been in the habit of setting the house AC to not get over 80F anyway, as I have a very very old cat that I don't want to overheat. The tank has risen a couple degrees when the house hit 80F (normally keep tank at 79.5F, rose to 81F), but I think that should be workable.
Definitely glad I added the fuge tho; in addition to the typical roles, I've built a few little shelves that fit inside there, that I've used as a recovery room. I've propagated some mushrooms that got too big, and let them get over it in back, with low flow and no big critters to worry about.

While on the topic of mods.... best one I ever did was to add the 'fence' of gutterguard....
The first night my clown came home, she managed to jump into the internal sump. I'm a fitful sleeper, and for some reason decided to check on the fish at about 4AM, and found she wasn't in the tank anymore. After some panicked searching, I saw the skimmer flash orange and found her -- she had gotten lucky and found a tiny slot next to the skimmer where she could survive.
Unfortunately, she was my first fish in the tank, so... I didn't have a way to get her out. I had picked up a fish, not a net. After some head scratching, I decided I couldn't get her safely out until pet stores opened, so shut down the pumps, took the skimmer out, and put a powerhead in the main tank to keep things circulating. 'Lucky' was back in the main tank when I got up.

I didn't have the fenceguard and my dottyback got spooked, jumped into compartment 3 and lived there for a few days until I finally found him. No gutter worked out for me becuase I had been trying to catch him for a few months (without removing rock) He now has a new home (hopefully with a bigger fish that picks on him).
