October 2008 Meeting
This place is dead, I figured I would start this thread and see what type of attendance we will be having this Friday.

Yup, I think everyone's attention may be elsewhere right now. Nonetheless, I'll see what I can do to put something together and post tonight. Thanks Brian!

So are we having a meeting? I enjoy the meetings but don't want to make a trip to Chico if there isn't anything discussed, isn't a raffle, and only has 2-3 people show up.

well yea the meeting was very small + Mount mikes stole our room and double booked it! (5 people including my baby =)) we just throw around ideas how to recuit more members and get more of a turn out in future meeting im sure chris will debreif you all.

I was in Southern California at Blizzcon.... but count me in for the November meeting. Woo.

There were only about a dozen people the last month. Who could blame them for not saving it for us on a Friday night. I doubt we will have it saved next month either (with only 5).

Meeting Details
So a quick rundown about what was discussed at the October meeting: 1) any changes to the membership cards for 2009? Comments: fine the way they are. 2) wear name tags at meeting: Comments: sure. 3) Ideas for next year's goals: Frag Swap Speakers Group Sponsored Public Tank Field trip to Stienheart Aquarium in SF Field trip to Sac orEast Bay for LFS visits Tank view day for Paradise/RARE DIY workshops Roundtable discussions Continue after tank viewing if possible or solicit LFS to host a special Letter writing to manufacturers, vendors, and distributors for raffle items. 4) We briefly discussed an upgrade topic: If you are this far in the hobby, most likely you're in the middle of one, about to start one any day now, or come on... you know you've been planning one for some time now. What is your current design, why did you opt not to do what you were originally thinking?.... I suggest we continue this one to the next meeting. 5) I presented the frag swap modification suggestions: See frag swap thread for more info http://www.chicoreefclub.org/viewtopic.php?t=237&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 6) There was a question if we had members with Fish Only tanks. Feel free to start a discussion and if we get enough participation we'll create a special FO/FOWLR forum but really I feel we don't need to really separate the discussions that much more as we have so many already. 7) from this thread: I like the option of having a Paradise meeting once in a while. However, the last time we did it at the RT there, there were several issues with the food quality compared to the Pillsbury one which happens to be my personal favorite and the one closest to the owner's home.... (hint!) So before we discuss the option of a meeting in Paradise I would like to suggest we have an option for a different venue. Anyone know of a venue that works for our meetings and possibly a speaker? Also a book was brought in for show about fish breedingwhich also documented growing green water (I am assuming phytoplankton) and brine shrimp among others. This is a great idea if you think you might have book that would contribut to the hobby but might not be read or owned by members or in the mainstream. Of course you still take it back home with you but you can do this to inspire others who might find it valuable. This type of sharing is really what the club is about. There was no raffle. :-( Feel free again here to make any suggestions that you might have for next year's goals if they are not presented here. Or comment on any of the above topics if you didn't make the meeting.
