tank got a bit warm today... i went to oroville tonight, when i got home my fan mysteriously turned itself off and the tank was at 84.4. ouch. im sure everything will be fine, but its a reminder that the heat is coming!!! Be Prepared!!! :flameme: :flameme: :flameme: :flameme: :flameme:

Mine got up to 82... I am actually looking forward to the bigger tank as it will take longer for the temps to change... I am planning on installing two good sized fans in the stand and two in the canopy... should keep it good most of the time

Bring on the Heat!!! Yeah, Larger tanks don't necessarily take that much longer to heat up. 12+ hours at higher temps and even 180gal will begin to equalize to the warmer room temperature.
I have to say that I love my controller!!! I have it so that the chiller kicks on 82.5 to 81.5. At 81.5 my moon lights (which are incandecent christmas lights and heat my tank nicely in the winter) switch off. If my tank goes to 82.6 the first set of lights go off. at 82.7 the second set of lights (the ones with the fans associated with them) go off.
I'm thinking about adding a frzn 2 ltr bottle in the sump in the early afternoon on the really hot days to minimize chiller operations (read $$$). I take the winter glass covers off and add a clip-on fan to the canopy that I plan to also run off the controller this year.
BTW, I'm interested to see if anyone would like a talk on how much their tank costs to run (electricity wise)? I would be happy to do that. Especially, as the desparate time to purchase a chiller may be here soon!!!
I could easily generate a nice breakdown curve from heaters/chillers depending on room heat load/loss as without a kill-a-watt this is the big unknown.

Good to hear from you again Chris!
I would be interested in that talk on electricity use. As of right now I can't see myself being able to feasibly afford a chiller without it being a killer deal. I know our house's power usage seems to be about $100 higher due to my tanks and while that number should go down with the heaters not in use as much I could be spending a great deal keeping them cool.

Are you freaking nuts??thats information that should NOT be made available because anyone could have a spouse within ear range ( my wife's hearing is close to 3400 miles ) this is about how well that conversation would go   :rip:

 Not very often do I actually LOL. But this was one time for sure!!! Hilarious.
Yeah not trying to deter anyone at all but simply like to share the truth.
 Maybe we should save that for our free beer and pizza meeting so everyones fat, drunk, and happy, and won't care when I tell them that their tank costs around $300-800/year just in electricty costs.
